WHO ARE WE?

The Scotland-China Association (SCA) is a non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian organisation for people who have an interest in all aspects of Chinese life and civilisation. The SCA holds a wide range of cultural events in Glasgow and Edinburgh to foster friendship and understanding between the people of Scotland and China.

We maintain a mailing list to inform friends of our upcoming SCA and non-SCA events. You can view the recent messages that were sent out from our mailing list as well as sign up for it from Yahoo Groups (please click). It's free to join the mailing list.

ANNA MAY WONG ~ FROSTED YELLOW WILLOWS: HER LIFE, TIMES, AND LEGEND (N/C 12+)

Los Angeles based director Elaine Mae Woo presents her documentary about the life of Anna May Wong, the first Chinese star in American cinema. The documentary is narrated by actress nancy Kwan, star of The World of Suzie Wong.

Elaine is in Glasgow researching Anna May Wong's visit to the city in the 1930s and would be keen to hear from anyone who remembers it (contact via website).

Tue, 30 Mar 10, "Blue Poppies" by Victoria Long of Rokpa

Tuesday 30th March '10, 7.15 for 7.30pm
Garnethill Multicultural Centre
21 Rose St, Glasgow G3 6RE 

A film about three young women who with the help of the charity Rokpa came to study at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh. Their purpose was to gain skills to help ensure the survival of Tibet's medicinal plants.  Victoria Long from Rokpa will present the DVD and describe the charity’s work in Tibetan areas.

Tue, 27 Apr 10, Glasgow AGM with Chinese music by Eddie McGuire and Fong Liu
