SCA Events - Edinburgh

Edinburgh Branch programme, 2014-2015

The 2014-2015 programme for meetings of the Edinburgh Branch of the SCA has now been confirmed and is given below. All SCA members and friends are very welcome, and we look forward to seeing you.

Events usually take place on the second Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise stated, at The Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2JL. Tea & biscuits will be served from 7pm (a voluntary donation is requested) and the talk will begin at 7:30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings free of charge.

James McCarthy will give a talk based on his book, The Diplomat of Kashgar, about the life of George MacCartney, a British diplomat who was also half Chinese. MacCartney spent many years in Kashgar, Xinjiang, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, during the power struggle between Britain, China and Russia over control of Central Asia in what came to be known as ‘The Great Game’.
