2010 SCA Primary Schools Competition

2010 PRIMARY SCHOOLS COMPETITION

SHANGHAI 2010

The aim of the competition is to stimulate interest in the city of Shanghai which will host the World Expo in 2010.

The theme of Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life", representing the common wish to create better cities in which people will live better lives.

Entries will be welcomed with a Shanghai theme.

The competition will encourage pupils to learn about China's most vibrant, modern and rapidly growing city, and to explore ways in which better cities can be created to enable people to enjoy better lives.

SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT ENDORSEMENT FOR 2010 COMPETITION

We have received the following endorsement for the 2010 Primary Schools Competition from Fiona Hyslop MSP the Scottish Government's Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.

"The Scottish Government places a real value on our Partnership with China. That's why I am delighted that Scotland's school children are being encouraged to learn about our links with modern China. This stimulating competition is designed to encourage pupils to find out more about the vibrant, modern and rapidly growing city of Shanghai.

I hope it will enthuse, inform and inspire our young people about a country whose influence in the world is growing exponentially. Most of all, this should be a fun learning experience which not only captures the imagination of our school pupils but serves to forge closer links between Scotland and China. I would encourage all schools to take part."
